Amanda Specht joined Root River Veterinary Center in July 2017. She grew up in Coon Rapids, MN until the age of 14 and at that time her family relocated to Highland, MN and she finished out high school in Lanesboro, MN. Amanda currently lives in Preston, MN with her husband James and daughter Camilla. Before their daughter, their hearts were full of love from their two dogs, Zeus who is their yellow lab and Jake their fourche terrier (westie/yorkie hybrid). Zeus and Jake are Camilla's best friends and the couple couldn't be more pleased that all 3 of their kids love each other. Amanda is excited to be a Veterinary Technician here at Root River Veterinary Center and cannot wait to meet all of our clients and their pets.
Dr. LeAnne Froese grew up in a small farming community in Southern Alberta, Canada. It is here that her love of animals began as she became actively involved in 4-H and spent many hours training her border collie, Scooter, in agility. After graduating from high school she moved to North Dakota where she gained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Dr. LeAnne later received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University.
In 2010, she moved with her family from Colorado to Minnesota to become a part of the Pet Medical Center of Winona team. A year later, she and a friend, Dr. Deb Finnegan, purchased the practice. In 2014, Dr.’s LeAnne and Deb acquired Root River Veterinary Clinic. Dr. LeAnne and her family have grown to love Southeastern Minnesota and plan to make it their long time home. She lives with her husband Tyler, and their three children, Isaiah, Aubrey and Lander in Chatfield. They have two Australian shepherds, Cowboy and Maple, and three cats, Gabby, Hope and Bo. Dr. LeAnne finds the veterinary profession very rewarding as it allows her to combine her love for animals with her passion for teaching and people. Her professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry and small mammal medicine.
In her spare time Dr. LeAnne enjoys gardening, the outdoors, art projects of different kinds and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Sifford graduated from the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1977 (when she was very young). She and her husband Dr. Tom Sautter started Root River Veterinary Center in 1981. They operated the clinic as a mixed animal practice until 2011 when they became the only veterinary clinic in Fillmore County dedicated exclusively to serving cats and dogs.
The Sifford/Sautter family includes three girls who all graduated from Lanesboro Public Schools. Casey, Robin and Dana are all pursuing medical degrees in college or graduate school at this time. They live with one nearly perfect beagle named Sunny. Drs. Tom & Linda are owned by two cats, Clover and Donald who co-exist, but refuse to acknowledge each other’s existence. Their farmyard pets also include one mini horse named Penny who is addicted to peppermint and a mini donkey named Nikki who is shy.
Dr. Linda served on the Lanesboro School Board for 13 years. She enjoyed working with the staff and students in that capacity.
In her spare time Dr. Linda enjoys traveling and going to plays. She also likes to garden, even if the deer and raccoons reap most of the rewards of her efforts.
Dr. Sifford is a lifelong learner, having completed her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture, Advanced Acupuncture, Chinese Food Therapy, and Tui-na (medical massage). She is working on her certification in Chinese herbal medicine from the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. She has made many trips to Florida in the past few years. Hopefully she will be able to travel to China in the near future to further her education in acupuncture.
