Dr. Linda Sifford

Drs. Linda and Tom started Root River Veterinary Center in 1981. They live on a hobby farm near Lanesboro and have collected a menagerie of animals including a mini-pony named Penny, a mini-donkey named Nickel, three pampered cats, turtles, fish, a few sheep and an ancient Boston Terrier named Buster. They also have three children. Casey attends Lawrence University, Robin attends Drake University and Dana attends Lanesboro High School.

In her spare time Dr. Linda enjoys reading, driving to her children’s activities, cleaning up after animals, and being on the Lanesboro School Board.

Years ago, Dr. Linda practiced both large and small animal medicine, but the lure of warmer buildings and safer working conditions plus an increase in small animal business now finds her working exclusively with pets. Ironically, the only injury that Dr. Linda has sustained in her long career that landed her in the hospital was at the hands of an angry tomcat.

Last year, Dr. Linda became certified in adjusting animals. She has been thrilled with the success that can be obtained by combining traditional medicine and chiropractic care for animals.

Dr. Linda enjoys all aspects of her job including surgery, chiropractic care, dentistry and internal medicine. She especially likes interacting with people to prevent diseases and help their pets live longer and happier lives.

Dr. Tom Sautter

Although production medicine is Dr. Tom's primary interest, he can also be seen working with horses, sheep, pigs and just about any other animal that needs his attention.

At home Dr. Tom cares for his flock of sheep, a mini donkey, a burro (home of the Lanesboro Burros) and an assortment of cats, and other creatures. He shares a house with his wife Linda, their three daughters and Buster the dog.
